LORD! If you do NOTHING else in life, make sure you see Crush in concert, SOMEHOW, SOME WAY. The stars aligned and I was able to see Crush live in New York on my 34th birthday. The event was put together by Powerhouselive and Amoeba Culture and took place at Stage 48. It was an amazing experience. I will try to be as detailed as I can but as I said above, it was my birthday. Which means Ajummah was drunk as hell enjoying the evening responsibly.
My friends and I arrived about 90 mins before the concert was supposed to start. We thought it would be enough time to get a good viewing area to watch Crush but we were dead wrong. The line was wrapped 3/4 around the street. Some people had been in line since 8am that morning (Ajummah was still in bed at that point). Our tickets meant that we were upstairs in the balcony area and if you’ve never been its pretty dope. The event was supposedly sold out and by the time we got upstairs, there was no room by the railing. Which meant if they didn’t turn on the screens, we wouldn’t be able to physically see Crush. Though disappointed a bit, I was happy just to be in the same room with him, listening to him sing.
After a few drinks (I was on a mission), the concert started. The venue opened another section so we were able to see Crush and Millic (my new favorite DJ) for about 10 mins before sliding to the seated area to watch the screen.
Crush is amazing. Let me say that again. Crush. Is. AMAZING. I try not to be a fan girl (lies) but I started crying when Crush began to sing his duet with Zion.T “Just“. It wasn’t the alcohol (maybe a little). It was the fact that Crush’s voice is so soulful, so expressive, I couldn’t help but to tear up at the beauty of it. Not very many artists get me to do that (K.Will, Zion.T, Daesung).
The crowd screamed from the time Millic spun his first song until Crush’s last curtain call. If you haven’t heard Crush sing, check out his newest album Wanderlust. If you need more information on Millic (did I mention he was incredible) check out his Soundcloud.
All in all, this concert was splendid. The crowd was respectful, positive (read:not too much pushing and shoving). The artists put their soul into their performances. Hanging out with my friends is worth more to me than $10000000 dollars.
So tell me, did you go to Crush’s concert? What was your favorite part?

[…] Crush is back. I repeat, Crush is back. (insert fanfare) It wasn’t that long ago when he gave us the Ohio single album, and now he’s back with With Her. The five-track album will be his last before he starts his military obligations. He’s set to enlist on November 12th, the day before my freaking birthday. Thanks for that present. Seriously though, as a veteran, I understand his decision, so I’m proud of Crush. The two years will go by quickly and hopefully, by then we’ll be able to have concerts again. […]
