Cultural differences in Fan Engagements. Something I never thought I would be interested in. I’m so glad I was wrong. During KCON LA 2019, I had the best time with fellow panelists Miranda Larsen and Cherry. We compared and contrasted the differences between fan engagements in the States, Japan, and Korea.
I always thought that paying extra for a high touch was really stupid not wise. After spending money on the concert tickets, the travel fare and possible lodging, shelling out an extra $20 – $100 for a five-second meeting just didn’t appeal to me. I am, however, human. A true fangirl at heart. So there have been occasions where I spent the extra money to do group photos. Here are some of the examples I used during the panel.
I will be honest, I didn’t really think about fan engagements until a random conversation with Miranda on Twitter sparked interested. Just to a few months later, we had what had to have been one of the best conversations I’ve had during KCON. I won’t get long-winded here because there is VIDEO! The take away is that I’m moving to Japan, lol. Seriously though, the differences and the reasoning behind it were really interesting.
Check out the video (thanks to Miranda for posting) and let me know what you think!
