Dream Korea Vacation. I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to do during my stay in Korea for a long time. Hopefully putting it on my blog will keep me focused on getting my butt there. I
I checked out airfare flights and the average price for me to get there is about $2000. It does sound pricey. I couldn’t put the accurate date for the trip because I don’t have one. But at least now I know a ballpark figure. This means I will have to save for a VERY long time.
I decided that I would want to stay for 6 days/5 nights or 6 nights/5 days. About a week would be the perfect first time trip for me.
I would focus on Seoul for the trip because I don’t want to stress myself out trying to run around the country. There is a site called Trazy that has different sight-seeing trips you can buy. I went on there to see what they had and picked out a few I thought would be interesting.
The first package I picked out was “18 must visit places in Seoul for the first timers”. Since I want to focus my time on traveling around Seoul, I thought this was a great package to get. I’d be able to see famous sights like Gyeongbokgung Palace, 남산타워 (Namsan Tower), Insadong among many others. Now this package isn’t something you can buy; it’s a more of a collection of highly recommended places you should see when you first get to Seoul.
The next collection I decided to use is “All about K-Pop in Seoul“. I know I’m not going to see any idols, and I’m okay with that. I still want to see where the idols train, write music, etc. etc. There are a few cafes on the list so that I will be stuffing my face as well.
Speaking of stuffing my face, the last collection I chose was the “Top 15 It-Places to Eat and Drink in Hongdae, Sangsu District“. I want to eat, drink and review every restaurant on the list! I wonder if Korea has Yelp?
The next major part of this trip would be where I would stay. Instead of traditional hotels I want to try using Airbnb. I found a great place, as an example, of what you can get for about the same price a hotel. I’m sure there are others for a cheaper price, but I want to go with a place that has many recommendations and positive reviews.
Airfare ($2,000)+ lodging ($500) + traveling expenses ($1,000) is ridiculous. But this is something that I really want to do. I had a great idea to get some sponsoring. It will really, REALLY take me a long time to save up $3500. I’m not looking for handouts though, so I’m starting this by opening a savings account and depositing $26 into it.
I gave myself 2 years to get to $3500. That should be doable right? So tell me, what would your dream Korea vacation be? Tweet me your thoughts or put it in the comments below!
