Family Outing: My Favorite Variety Show
Korean Variety

I’ve been asked before what my favorite variety show is and I tell everyone it’s season 1 of Family Outing. I’ve never gone into detail as to why though, so I thought…why not blog about it?
Family Outing came out back in 2008 and season 1 lasted until 2010. The main “family” consisted of Yoo Jae Suk,
Kang Daesung, Lee Hyori, Yoon Jong-shin, Kim Soo-ro, Park Ye-jin and Lee Chun-hee. Kim Jong-kook, Park Si-yeon, and Park Hae-jin were also members during season 1.
The whole premise of the show is the family, along with 2 guests, go to the countryside to take care of the house of an elderly family while that family goes on a vacation. The “Family” then accomplishes the tasks left for them by the house’s owners. They also play games (which are freaking hysterical). The family stays for 2 days and 1 night and the show is broken down into two episodes.
Now I started watching this way before I knew kpop. I had just recently started watching dramas and had experienced my first lull (where I wasn’t actively watching any dramas). I didn’t want to just stop watching everything Korean and by accident, I found this drama. Talk about a golden streak of luck. I watched this show like it was a drama and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I fell in love with almost every single member on that show (including Lee Hyori) and was sad to see it end (though it ended a year before I started watching it). Too bad it isn’t still running. I could get famous, travel there, and hang with the family. I even got my t-shirt ready (excuse my face, I had no makeup or anything on).
SO I say all that to say if you need a laugh, in between dramas (or not) and want something new to watch, TOTALLY check out Family Outing. Here’s the link to some of the episodes I was able to find, subbed. I hope you enjoy them!
Enjoy and let me know what you think!

I fell into the world of Hallyu by way of Boys over Flowers, but isn't that always the way? I haven't looked back since.
