Today the world said see you later to Kwon “G-Dragon” Jiyong as he officially enlisted in the military. He will be serving in the 3rd Infantry Division, which is reportedly one of the toughest units. He will serve for as an active duty soldier before getting discharged in November of 2019. Fans were in attendance with signs saying they would patiently wait until his return.

A few years ago, I wrote a piece on tattoos and the military and I wondered if G-Dragon would have any problems with entering since he had had some rather large ones. Thankfully, there seems to be no problem. Of course, he just left a few hours ago so anything is possible. I was in the military for several years and I remember when I was getting ready to leave for bootcamp, the military searched every inch of my body and recorded what they saw. I don’t remember people measuring tattoos or anything like that but 1.) The United States is very different than South Korea and 2.)I only had 1 small tattoo at the time.

Taeyang will be leaving soon after G-Dragon so VIPs will be sad again. Sad but proud, I think. Big Bang is what made me stay in k-pop. I am extremely proud of these men and can’t wait to see what positive things await them in the future.
