I am still putting up my videos from LA & NY/NJ very slowly. While I edit them, however, I find myself reflecting over everything that happened during those wonderful days of KCon. So I’m just going to do a list (in no partiular order) of things I need to remember for next year.
- Save early. Last year, life got in the way and I didn’t save any money. I didn’t even plan on going to the LA event until I got the invitation to be on a panel. Then I had to scramble and by scramble, I mean work 2 jobs and rely on my family to get my ass out there. I don’t like the feeling of depending on family when I’m grown and can do this myself, if I plan right and save.
- Trade for a high touch. I used to make fun of people who paid extra money to walk on stage and high-five their idols. Until KCon. Until Zion.T & Crush. No, I didn’t do the high touch with them but thinking back, I really wanted to. And probably could have. I sat around on Thursday, watching people trade like maniacs to get what they wanted. Shoot, I paid $15 to get a audience engagement with Daniel Henney and Son Ho Jun. I found out later that people were giving away, GIVING AWAY, Zion.T stuff. *sobs* I will no longer turn my nose up at high touches.
- Attend the dance workshop. I want to dance so badly. Unfortunately, the way my rhythm is set up… seriously though I would love to learn some of the kpop dances everyone else seems to know.
- Take more video and pictures. I really don’t know what happened. I felt like I was taking lots of pictures and videos but when I was going through what I took, its a bunch of shaky cam and pictures of my feet. *sigh* Also there was a moment where I was thisclose to Son Ho Jun and my friend STRONGLY suggested I take a picture. I wasn’t sure at the time who he was and I was nervous, so I declined. I regret it. Won’t happen again.
- Spending the money on the seats you want. Okay. We all know that KCon is expensive. This year, KCON rolled out their brand new “PLATINUM TICKETS”. Since it was $800, there was no way I’d be able to afford that. So the first night, I used whatever tickets they gave me and paid for an upgrade the 2nd night. Let me tell you, those seats were SO HIGH!!! I have a very bad problem with open heights and I almost passed out. It was embarrassing they way I was shaking. The 2nd night, the seats were much lower so I was better. Next time, I’ll save money to pay for non nosebleed seats.
- Having more time. I showed up the Thursday before KCon and left the Monday afterwards. That meant I didn’t really have time to explore LA. Since KCon is the only time I’m on the west coast, I want to be able to explore the area.
There’s probably more things I should have remembered for the next KCon, but you know I have ahjumma brain. What about you guys? Any things you learned for the next time you attend? Let’s discuss in the comments!
