My goodness. 2020 has been shitty, hasn’t it? We’ve been plodding along, and what seems like a blink of an eye, we’ve entered September. The unofficial end to convention/concert season. KCON has decided to give us fans something to look forward to with the announcement of KCON:TACT 2020 FALL. If you remember, the first KCON:TACT was a week-long event in June. KCON:TACT 2020 FALL is claiming to be bigger and better than its predecessor.
KCON:TACT FALL is set to be ten days and feature live concerts and meet & greets with dozens of top artists and countless hours of interactive content from influencers and artists, both live and pre-recorded. The convention will utilize Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and eXpanded Reality (XR) technology to push the limits of what is possible with virtual entertainment. This will also strengthen the ways fans at home can participate in the show as a live audience.
Remarked by CJ ENM official, “This year has been an amazing opportunity for us to accelerate our experimentation with the latest technology. While we can’t be together at our in-person events, we are so proud that we have created a virtual world where fans can get a piece of that amazing artist interaction they have come to expect from KCON.”
KCON-ers from all over the world will be able to cheer together simultaneously, and the programs will provide English subtitles. KCON is again teaming up with YouTube to broadcast KCON:TACT 2020 FALL. The entire program will be streamed exclusively on Mnet K-Pop (www.youtube.com/mnet) YouTube channel globally. All interactive elements, including direct artist communication, will be available only through the YouTube platform and stream. .
I’m assuming the price will be the same as the first KCON:TACT event ($20) or close to it. No artists have been announced yet, but I will update this article when they are. Who are you hoping to see this time around? Also, what did you think of the first KCON:TACT?
I didn’t get to watch a lot of it live due to work and other morning engagements. The streams’ reruns were enjoyable, though. Let’s talk about it on social media or leave your comments below!
