Nightmare Teacher, I am so happy I found you. Just the right mix of supernatural, mystery and WTF. If you know me, you know I am all  things spooky. The stranger, the more action, the better. So naturally I don’t watch as many dramas as I like because it seems to be all about romance right now. I’m not knocking it (not really) but do we REALLY need another hard- son-her-luck-female-looking-for-her-prince-charming-even-though-the-second-lead-is-right-there, she-goes-after-the-asshole-lead show?

I digress.

Anyway, imagine my surprise when I received an email saying I should watch this drama because it’s right up my alley.

Turns out, they were right. Nightmare Teacher is great for several reasons.  Aside from the fact that it is my favorite genre (supernatural mystery) it’s a webdrama. That means at max each episode is 20 minutes. For a busy Ajummah like myself, this is perfect. I marathoned the whole thing last night (stayed up until midnight when I had work at 7 but I regret nothing).

So what’s it about? Well according to Hancinema:

Nightmare Teacher” is about the mysterious things that happen in a typical school. The students fall into a sweet but mysterious seduction in which their dreams happen as soon as they dream it.

I don’t really agree with this. The dreams weren’t sweet. They were twisted. I mean yes, I understand wanting to be popular, or have the hottest boyfriend, but at what cost? When the creepy teacher starts requesting drops of blood for a contract, that should have been a  damn warning signal.

There is new story-line for every two episodes and I was here for each one.

Uhm Ki Joon played a fabulous villain. Was he always creepy like this? No idea but I’m so happy he’s showing this side of acting. I want him in more villain roles please.

The other actors were alright. I’ve seen the lead female (Kim So Hyun) before in Suspicious Housekeeper, so I was familiar with her acting. The second lead(?) was played by Lee Min Hyuk (member of BtoB). I have seen him perform before, but this is the first time I’ve seen him in a drama. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

All in all, the drama was a delight to watch. I recommend it. Check it out on Viki or the first episode on Youtube. Let me know what you think!
