Korean Movie Review: She’s On Duty

She's On Duty

I was having a late-night twitter conversation with a few of my fellow k-drama addicts while watching Heartless City ep. 10 (OMG THE FIRST FEW MINUTES!!!) We started discussing realistic kiss scenes and the lack of them in dramas.

@couturekitty @MamaJ1101 That was so freaking real and the KISS?!! I’m trying to remember the last time I seen one like that! I CAN’T!

@couturekitty @MamaJ1101 But that’s a MOVIE!! Not a DRAMA!!

Well, She’s On Duty was the movie I was thinking of AND it was Gong Yoo not Hyun Bin, (mianhae).

Review

So really quickly, She’s On Duty is about Chun Ja-In, played by Kim Sun Ah. She’s a cop who messes up a big bust and as sort of a last chance before you get fired, goes undercover as a high school student. Now how anyone can think she’s a teenager is beyond me, but whatever.

she's on duty

Her job is to try to become friends with a mob boss’ daughter and see if she could convince the man to turn himself in. Sounds simple right? Oh and as I said before Gong Yoo is in it and plays (you guessed it) another high school student. I seriously don’t understand how either one of them can be considered 16 or however old they were supposed to be but I didn’t write this so I guess I don’t have to.

There’s comedy, action, and romance….let me talk about that for a moment. We all know that in the majority of k-dramas, the kiss scenes are not in the least bit realistic. I mean I don’t believe I’ve ever done a wide-eyed stock-still kiss in all my life.

Anyway, this has to be one of the most realistic kisses I’ve seen in a movie and I just wanted to share it with you.

So what do you think? Kiss scene aside, is it something you’d be interested in watching? Let me know in the comments below. The movie is on Youtube if you want to watch it but I will be honest, the quality is crappy.
