Review:
Netflix has really increased their Korean movie selection and I, for one, am extremely grateful. I decided I was in the mood for some action and decided to try Tidal Wave. I had seen it before (Netflix is always recommending it for me based on my other choices) but never bothered to look until today.
Okay…I was on the fence on it the first hour. Instead of jumping into the tidal wave (which is NOT a spoiler alert because hello, title of the movie)the movie tries to develop the characters which I understand but.. 0_o
Ha Ji Won plays Gang Yeon-Heui. Her father dies dramatically in the first 5 minutes of the movie and now his friend, Choi Man-shik, is looking out for her. Of course, he’s in love with her. The first 45 mins seem to revolve around Yeon-Heui and her life.
Occasionally we see Dr. Kim Hwi who is an oceanographer(?) that believes there will be a mega-tsunami soon. Naturally, no one believes him.
Finally, there is Hyoung-sik, a Coast Guard that sacrifices everything for a crazy ass peculiar woman, he loves.
So asĀ I said, almost an hour of me watching their lives when *BAM* tidal wave approaches. And then it hits…and that’s when I get invested. I’m serious.
There is way more to the tidal wave then the video above but from this point on I don’t think I blinked. And there were tears, oh yes. Why? Because some of the folks didn’t make it.
Final Thoughts
Ok, so the point of this review…should you watch Tidal Wave? I say yes. This is a really well-done disaster movie so if you’re into those types of things, definitely watch it. If you like Ha Ji Won, watch this movie. Check out the trailer if you need more convincing.
If you’re interested, you can watch the movie on Youtube for free! And let me know what you think.

Watched this one. Thanks for the sneak-peek..hehe.<br />Love Ha Ji Won but her leading man is kinda not-for-her type, well I'm not discriminating or what, it's just I hope they had a more intimate scene hehe. But though the movie is still nice to watch. I just hope it's all in the movie and not to happen in real life.
Hi Mary! Thanks for the comment and you are quite welcome for the sneak peek ^_^ I agree with what you said about Ha Ji Won's love interest in this movie. Perhaps that is why I was on the fence for the first hour because I just wasn't sold on it. The tidal wave hitting really did make up for it though.
