My husband has been getting into Hyuna lately (I blame myself). I have no problem with that. Hyuna is not my cup of tea but hey you don’t have to like EVERY artist. Or so I thought. I decided to finally check out Hyuna’s new video “Ice-cream” and nodded along to it. It’s not something I’d play all the time (MY OPINION) but it was catchy.
What shocked the shit out of me greatly was all the negative comments people left under the video!
- Annnnnnnd she fucked her way to the top #you.wouldnt.get.far
- I’m only watching this video because I subscribed to 4minuteoffical after watching the PSY video. This girl cannot sing and they are selling sex.
- I don’t like how much hyuna is like whoreing now a days 🙁
- Hyena is using PSY to feed off of his popularity and success. Lets face it, 4minute is irrelevant in Korea and Japan, Hyuna has no talent and she’s been in the game for 5 years. She can’t sale her music by singing , cause she can’t sing and she can’t do it by dancing so CUBE made a whore out of her. All that’s missing in her music videos is a stripper pole. She probably would know how to work it.
That ish is from the first page. What. THE. Hell. If you don’t like the song, don’t listen to it. If you don’t like Hyuna, don’t come to the page. Fucking trolls.
And seriously, what is so bad about Hyuna?
She’s in 4Minute and before that debuted with Wonder Girls, so it’s not like she was some random chick in Psy’s video. She sings, raps & dances (what people would call a triple threat). Do people understand how hard artists work to get to that level? I personally think that kpop idols have it a bit harder because they start out as trainees and wait years to debut.

I don’t have anything particular against Hyuna, but just like you I don’t really listen to her music very much. I’ve listened to some of 4Minute’s songs and Hyuna’s collaborations with Hyunseung (Troublemaker duo) but that’s about it.
And yes, I’ve noticed how much hate she gets from netizens, both Korean and international alike. She definitely does not deserve it, though I do think she’s marketed the wrong way by her agency. I don’t mind sexiness, but because of her relatively young age her promiscuity oftentimes comes across a little overboard, making the viewers feel uncomfortable. And because too much emphasis is put on Hyuna being sexy in music videos that it takes the attention away from her music. I wish her agency concentrated more on her dancing and rapping skills (since she’s not a very good singer) and let sexiness come naturally through her talent.
Of course, netizens just hate on her because they can. It’s sad but nasty comments will probably follow Hyuna all throughout her career. Although I guess that goes for most K-pop idols.
