How many dramas have we seen where the characters are talking over a pot of ramen?
I mean shoot there was even a drama based around a ramen shop.
Anyway before becoming a kdrama addict, the only ramen I knew of was Top Ramen. Now there isn’t anything wrong with it but well, I wanted to expand my knowledge and tastebuds. I went to my local Asian market and was blown away. They had an entire aisle dedicated to ramen. I was getting ready to turn around and head to my closest Costco for yet another case of Top Ramen when a nice lady stopped me and started putting some of her favorites into my cart. She said she could tell I was overwhelmed. Understatement of the year lady. I bought the stuff without really looking at it (so I wouldn’t decide to put it back) and tossed it into the back of the cabinet when I got home. Fast forward a few days (okay a few weeks) and I was in the middle of the worst cold I have ever had. All I wanted was some broth for my sore throat but my husband insisted that I eat something with it. Enter ramen (gone are the days when it would have been chicken soup). I grabbed the first packet that was closest to me and tore in.
Now unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of the completed dish because I devoured those noodles! I was a bit afraid because the broth wasn’t yellow like the Top Ramen kind. It also smelled like it had some lemongrass seasoning in it which isn’t really my fav but when I bit into (pure heaven). That one pack fed me and my two little ones so you definitely get your money’s worth ($1.50). Next time I will add some egg and veggies because in a few hours ate it, I was hungry again. Of course maybe next time I won’t share. So yeah I guess this is a review? Whatever. If you want to try some other brands of ramen but don’t know where to start. Start with Green Hat Original Ramen chicken flavor, you won’t be disappointed.
